I love a good beachfront hotel. There’s just something about waking up to the sound of the ocean.

Location: Jacksonville Beach, FL

The hotel is located right beside the Jacksonville Beach Pier, so there are tons of activities going on in the area.

The pier is also home to beach life rentals where you can rent chairs, umbrellas, tables, and even things like kayaks, surfboards, and boogie boards.

One evening, I went out on the outdoor terrace located on the fourth floor and enjoyed photographing the pier at sunset while watching everyone enjoy the beach volleyball courts, surfing, and walking along the beach.

Then one morning, I decided to walk out on the beach for sunrise and watch the sky change colors as the morning began. Being right beside the pier meant there was always something going on.

A couple of restaurants in the area that I tried and loved were Delicomb—a café with fresh breakfast and lunch options—and Hoptinger which has a huge selection of beers on tap and serves Bavarian pub food, though their smash burger was delicious.

Not only can you walk to a few restaurants and shops, but it’s also within easy driving distance of many Jacksonville attractions.

Downtown Jacksonville is about 30 minutes away, the Mayport Ferry Landing is 20 minutes, and attractions like the Tideview Preserve or Jacksonville Arboretum are 15 to 25 minutes.

However, if you just want to lounge on the beach, then no need to get in the car. Just walk outside the hotel and step on the sand.

Rooms at the Margaritaville Beach Hotel

They have multiple different types of rooms depending on your budget, and I stayed in one of the standard rooms which was very spacious.

I was lucky enough to get a partial ocean view and the room had a work desk and sitting chair in addition to the king size bed.

In addition to their standard rooms, they also have elevated options like their deluxe and premium rooms or oceanfront suites. If you want a balcony, you’ll need to go with a deluxe option or higher.

Of course, all the rooms are decorated in the beachy Margaritaville style that will give you island vibes.

Amenities In Room and On-Site

My room had all of the amenities that you would expect from a traditional hotel—a coffee maker, mini fridge, bathroom products, iron, and WiFi.

Breakfast is not included in the price of the stay, but there is a coffee shop on site where you can get pastries, light bites, and espresso drinks or regular coffee.

If you’re around the hotel for lunch or dinner, then the LandShark Bar and Grill is a quick option for drinks and a meal. They also have a second level with an open-air patio that overlooks the beach.

There is no free dedicated parking lot for Margaritaville Beach hotel guests, but you are able to use the public parking for Jacksonville Beach. On the weekend these are paid, but during the week they are free.

However, you may want to budget valet parking into your stay especially if you will be driving your car a lot.

I visited during the weekdays, and when I returned in the evenings, all public parking in the immediate hotel area was taken.

Another on-site amenity is the pool at Margaritaville, which has a small waterfall feature and is located between the hotel and the beach. It would be a nice place to lay out and enjoy the beautiful Jacksonville Beach weather.

What to Know Before Visiting

The biggest thing to know is related to parking. Like I said, you’ll likely want to budget valet parking for your trip even though public parking is available near the hotel.

Those lots fill up quickly, especially in the evenings and even on weekdays.

Next is that Uber was not plentiful while I was visiting. I’m not sure if this is always the case or if it was because I was here on a weekday, but the closest Uber was 15 minutes away when I looked.

They didn’t have robes in my room, so if you enjoy slow mornings at the hotel. You may want to bring your own or lounge clothes.

Finally, the section of beach right outside the hotel is very lively, and you’ll find people here from sunrise well through sunset. As a solo female traveler, I felt pretty safe in the area.
