5 Cool Breweries in Waco, TX
If you are a beer aficionado, there are some fantastic breweries in Waco, TX that are worth a stop! I visited Waco in early March and tried all the breweries here except for one.
You’ll find something different—and delicious—to explore at each one, ranging from crisp lagers to rich stouts. A few spots are doing some really unique stuff too.
Between the solid craft beer choices, cool spaces, and friendly bartenders, going brewery hopping in Waco makes for a fun time. If you don’t have a designated driver, Ubers are really easy to get here!

5 Breweries in Waco, TX
Each brewery in Waco has something that makes it truly special so you can’t go wrong with any of these that are on the list. Beer is such a subjective thing too, so my favorites probably won’t be yours.
Be sure to add a couple of these to your weekend in Waco itinerary!
Southern Roots Brewing
I absolutely loved Southern Roots Brewing. When you first pull in, you see the cool Waco mural on the side of the building that’s the perfect photo opp. It was too dark when we visited so sadly, I didn’t get a good photo here.
Inside are picnic tables, smaller tables in case you’re visiting solo, and an outdoor patio to enjoy nice weather. When you get there, you’ll order both drinks and food at the counter then choose your seat.
This is one of the breweries in Waco that had some really unique brews. Suspicious Minds is one of them – a peanut butter banana stout. I was skeptical at first but I tried it and actually really liked it! Of course, they have traditional brews too plus wine for those who prefer that.
They also have many fun games and we saw multiple families here with younger kids. It’s a very family-friendly space.
If you came hungry, then definitely order one of their pizzas. It came highly recommended from a local. They also have wings and charcuterie boards. I wish I had picked up some of their cans to bring home!

Waco Ale Company
Waco Ale Company was another brewery that had a cool mural but it was on the inside. From the outside, the windows are blacked out so if it’s your first time visiting, you aren’t quite sure what you’re walking into. This is a really neat space though.
They brew a nice variety of craft beers and they also serve wine and mimosas. My favorite beers here were the New Waco Haze and their Blonde but my mom and sister had mimosas.
They were out of one of their most popular brews, the Hop-Burst Orange. The brewmaster was awesome and let me try it before it was carbonated. I could tell it would have been one of my favorites.
Everyone we met who worked here was super nice and helpful so it made for a great hang out spot. They even helped us with suggestions on places to eat in Waco.
You’ll find bar food here like burgers, wings, and chicken tenders. They also sell cans that you can take home.

Brotherwell Brewing
Brotherwell Brewing has a huge outdoor area with picnic tables that are perfect for big groups looking for a place to hang out. We saw a few groups of Baylor students here the night we visited.
It’s located just on the other side of the Brazos River from town but it took us less than 10 minutes to get there from where we were staying near Baylor.
The building is very industrial and note that they don’t have AC. In the summer, they keep the doors open and large fans going.
You’ll find snacks like pretzels and goldfish for sale here plus craft soda and soft drinks. I tried Act of Faith, Bridge Street Wit, Shelter in Haze, and Perry Porter and thought each one was a solid choice.
Brotherwell is family-friendly and dog-friendly and you can take their beer home in growlers or they have cans for sale.

Bare Arms Brewing
This one is further out from downtown and closer to what’s known as “The Circle” which is the large traffic circle where you’ll also find Magnolia Table and Health Camp.
I feel like they had the widest variety of beers because they had almost anything you could think of. Stouts, IPAs, pilsners, ales, lagers. They even had a Schwarzbier and a Bock, which I rarely see.
Their flights are 6 beers instead of 4 and with so many choices, I decided to try a few outside of my comfort zone. My favorite was actually the Vienna Lager.
We saw the most locals here for sure but we also visited this one on a Friday afternoon and were at all of the other ones earlier in the week.
They serve a full food menu here and you can get burgers, loaded potatoes, quesadillas, and more. The indoor area is very big but they also have a covered outdoor space with picnic tables.

Pivovar
Pivovar is most well known as the boutique hotel located right next to the Magnolia Market but they also brew their own beer as well. After all, Pivovar means “brewery” in Czech.
It’s no surprise that they focus on traditional Czech beers which are by far some of my favorites. Besides their beer selection, they also offer wine for those who prefer it.
With its convenient location next to the Magnolia Silos and its spacious beer garden, this is a very popular spot. While we did get to try the restaurant and bakery here, I wasn’t able to try any of their brews which I was pretty bummed about!
You can see all of their brewing equipment from their restaurant which is pretty cool as the tanks are huge.
One super unique part about Pivovar is they also have a beer spa. This is where you soak in a tub of hot water, hops, barley, and other herbs. You can even add on a beer or wine flight or cheese board.

Wrap Up: Breweries in Waco, TX
Waco certainly has an impressive brewery scene, especially for the size of the city. They are all very community-focused and love being involved.
You’ll even find many of them participating in local events in the city as well as hosting their own throughout the week.
If you’re looking for somewhere to hang out in the mornings instead, then they also have some great coffee shops in the city.
I enjoyed trying out all of these breweries in Waco and hope that you will too! As I mentioned before, if you need a ride we got Ubers easily and I’m sure Lyft works too.
