When you’re planning a ski trip one of the most important choices is where you will stay. With so many options for Snowshoe, WV lodging it may be difficult to decide where the best place is for you and your family.

Over the past few years, Snowshoe has turned into my husband and I’s favorite ski mountain in the southeast and we’ve gone many times. We’ve also stayed in a few of the different lodging options and like some more than others.

There are many great places to stay on top of the mountain, but as usual, they are more expensive. The convenience of being able to walk to the slopes can’t be beat though. If you don’t mind driving to the mountain every day then there are a few cheaper options for you.

Snowshoe really is one of the best ski resorts for beginners in the US but they also offer plenty of advanced terrain too. You can’t go wrong with a trip here.

Here are all the places I would recommend to find lodging at Snowshoe. Looking for place to eat at Snowshoe? Here are all the best restaurants in Snowshoe, WV!

Old Clark Inn

Brick multi-story building with lots of windows in the snow. One of the best places to stay in Snowshoe.
Old Clark Inn

When we first started visiting Snowshoe we stayed at the Old Clark Inn every time. You truly can’t beat the price and the owners are so friendly. The rooms are about the size of a hotel room and very clean.

There is a common area and kitchen that everyone is able to use plus there are muffins and scones for breakfast. The Inn is located in the town of Marlinton and within walking distance of an Italian restaurant and a bar. The drive up to Snowshoe is about 30 minutes one way.

If you are visiting Snowshoe on a budget then this is the perfect place! It truly is a unique and welcoming place to stay – exactly like this bed & breakfast near Davis, WV.

Elk River Inn & Cabins

We’ve stayed here once with a group of friends and liked it alright. I did not realize when I booked that we were staying in a large building with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. I would have liked our trip better if we had rented our own cabin so we wouldn’t have shared with other groups.

I will say, the breakfast here is fantastic and the nightly rates are great too. This one is only a 15 – 20 minute drive up to the mountain.

Mountain Lodge

Multi-colored condo building with grassy field in front. Great option for Snowshoe, WV lodging.
The new Mountain Lodge!

Mountain Lodge just went through an exterior renovation and it looks fantastic now! The inside is a bit dated still but the location is absolutely great.

It’s right at the top of the Ballhooter lift so you go out the doors and you’re on the slopes. The walk into the Village is only a minute or two so all the shopping and restaurants are close by too.

There is a large parking lot so your vehicle is nearby but it gets pretty tough to get out when they’ve had heavy snow – pack a shovel!

Hotels Near Snowshoe, WV

Corduroy Inn & Lodge

This is a brand new family-owned boutique hotel on top of the mountain. It’s directly across the street from the Western Territory (the advanced terrain) and beside the Powder Monkey chairlift.

The rooms are cozy and there is a large hearth room if you’d like a common area to sit and relax in. There are also three restaurants in the Corduroy Inn – Appalachia Kitchen, Tuque’s Bar & Grill, and The Pizza Slice.

Can’t beat these sunsets.

The Inn at Snowshoe

This is the most economical choice closest to the mountain. Located directly at the base where the main entrance to Snowshoe is, this hotel is on the shuttle route for the mountain. This means you can hop on the shuttle in the morning and it will drop you off right in the middle of the village.

The rooms are nothing special, but that doesn’t matter if you aren’t planning to be in them much. They do offer an indoor pool, jacuzzi, and gym.

Lodging in the Village at Snowshoe

Rimfire Lodge

Multi-colored building with stone accents
Entrance to Rimfire.

Rimfire is a gorgeous building in the village that looks like it belongs in Europe more than West Virginia. Most units have views of either the village or Western views over the mountains with gorgeous sunsets. Each condo typically has a full kitchen as well.

Restaurants in the building include Foxfire Grille, Old Spruce Tavern, and Starbucks. There are also hot tubs for Rimfire guests only that have sunset views. Possibly the best part about staying here is the underground heated parking for guests.

Snowshoe is one of the best ski resorts in West Virginia and Rimfire is one of the most convenient places to stay.

Allegheny Springs

Snow covered hill with ski lift on top.
Ballhooter lift!

Another building with a European flair, the lobby will really take your breath away. Perks of staying here include how close it is to the Village and they have an outdoor pool and hot tub.

There is also a fitness center and some rooms on the upper floors may have mountain views. You’ll also be very close to Split Rock Pools when you stay here. Cheat Mountain Pizza, which I highly recommend, is located in Allegheny Springs.

This building is right on the corner of the Village closest to Ballhooter Lift. It’s really close to everything you might want to walk to.

Highland House

Condo building with restaurant below. Great place for Snowshoe, WV lodging.
Highland House with Sunset Cantina at the corner.

Highland House is right next to Allegheny Springs and diagonal from Rimfire in the middle of the Village. This building is made up of individually owned condos just like the other two as well. They also have underground parking for guests with a tunnel for access.

One side of Highland House faces the slopes and one side faces the mountains but you’ll need a room on a higher floor to have a good view of either. The Sunset Cantina is on the bottom floor of the building. If you like Mexican food I would be sure to go here during your stay.

Other Lodging in Snowshoe, WV

Whistlepunk

Each unit in Whistlepunk is a three-level townhome that has either a balcony or patio. It’s a short walk away from the Powder Monkey lift, Western Territory, and the Village. This is one of the cutest places to stay at Snowshoe in my opinion. The units were modeled after a Swiss Alpine Village.

All of the units have a woodburning fireplace and I always see wood stacked outside their doors so it may be provided by the resort. There are also washer and dryers in many of the units which is not the case for many of the resorts.

The Summit

Sunsets are too good not to share two!

Located across the street from the Village and down a few flights of stairs you’ll find The Summit. You may wonder why you would want to subject yourself to climbing stairs while in ski boots and the answer is easy: the view.

Every unit here has a fireplace and balcony, but the units on the top floor are where you want to be. They have a fantastic view of the mountains across the valley from Snowshoe. These are larger units so best for groups or families.

Powder Monkey

These townhomes are at the top of the lift with the same name and across the street from Western Territory. They are also right next to Corduroy Inn. Many of these multilevel units have a log cabin feel and some have balconies with views of the slopes.

Powder Monkey is a quick walk to the Village but you can catch the shuttle as well. This is a quiet spot a little further out from all the action.
